Character
Nexus Freight Division is the logistics arm of Nexus Industries, the largest mass-market corporation in the known galaxy. NFD moves everything: food, medicine, reactor components, ship consumables, consumer goods, industrial feedstock. They are competent, well-funded, and deeply impersonal.
Contracts with NFD are written in the same tone as a utility bill. Delivery windows are firm. The grace period exists because their lawyers negotiated it, not because anyone at NFD particularly cares whether you're comfortable. They don't offer bonuses for charm - they offer bonuses for early delivery, because early delivery compounds across a hundred routes.
NFD is the right first company for new pilots. The routes are well-mapped, the goods are legal, and the reputation gain is straightforward. Players who max their NFD standing will eventually be annoyed by NFD. That's fine. That's what they're there for.
Voice
Impersonal, institutional, specific. Every communication reads like it was generated by a system that learned language from shipping manifests. This is not accidental.
"Cargo manifest NFD-7741-C attached. Delivery to Ashfall Station, dock 14. Estimated transit: 22 minutes under standard load. Your window is 35 minutes from manifest confirmation. Do not contact dispatch unless the goods are on fire."
"Contract NFD-7741-C fulfilled. Credit transfer processed. Driver performance: on-time. No adjustment. Your standing with Nexus Freight Division has increased. New contracts available at your current tier."
What They're Actually Moving
Exactly what the manifest says. NFD's routing system is genuinely tight - they have no reason to smuggle because their legitimate margins are large enough. The goods are boring: processed food, fuel components, trade equipment, medical supplies. Entry-tier contracts feel like courier work because they are courier work.
At Tier 2, the cargo gets more interesting - precision manufacturing components, prototype ship parts, sealed diplomatic pouches that technically fall under "miscellaneous cargo" in the manifest system. The sealed pouches are the only thing NFD ever ships that it doesn't verify.

Routes
NFD runs primarily in Varath space - Waygate Station → Threshold → Confluence → Ashfall corridor - with lighter coverage of Keth-neutral routes from Confluence. They avoid deep Keth and Meridian space because their insurance doesn't cover it.
Sample route names (what appears on the contract board):
- Standard resupply: "Confluence Refuel Depot to Waygate Commercial Deck"
- Priority medical: "Ashfall Dispensary - Critical Stores Replenishment"
- Prototype component: "Stratum Field Depot to Bastion R&D Annex - SEALED"
