The Deepveil

"What the surface can't explain, we found under it."

The galaxy's primary independent archaeological organization - not affiliated with any house, funded by a consortium of smaller research institutions that the trading houses have never successfully consolidated. The Deepveil operates in the gaps: surveying Ancient sites that the Varath corporations haven't reached yet, preserving records of structures the Keth military has destroyed by accident, and maintaining the only academic relationship with Meridian scholars that isn't mediated by the Wayfarer Council.

They are underfunded, understaffed, and sitting on more information about the Ancient sites than anyone else in the galaxy. Stratum Corp has tried to absorb them twice. The Praxar have tried to recruit them once. Both attempts failed, partly because of Deepveil intransigence and partly because Meridian Conclave intervention, the nature of which the Deepveil doesn't fully understand, made the attempts unpleasant.

Space: Mobile. Survey teams operate across multiple sectors. Hub at Confluence Station.

What they want: Time. Resources. Access. The ability to understand what the Ancient sites actually are before someone extracts or destroys the evidence. Ideally before whatever the Meridian are afraid of arrives.

Starting standing: All races: +50 | Higher with Meridian if Wayfarer-introduced

Missions: Site survey, artifact recovery, site protection, data transmission from remote survey teams.

Exalted perk: Deepveil clearance - access to known Ancient site coordinates that aren't on standard navigation charts; bonus Explore XP from Ancient site visits.
