Varath Outrider
Explorer
The Outrider runs ahead of everyone else. Where a Wayfinder vanishes into the void, the Outrider barrels through it — armored enough to survive what they find, fast enough to outrun what they don't. The Varath corporate machine depends on the Outrider bringing back information the freight companies can move money on: which sector has the asteroid yields, which gate is unexpectedly hot, which station just dropped its prices.
Overcharge on an Outrider typically runs the engines - it's the class most aggressively engineered for speed-through-hostility. Push the drive past rated output, bleed off the heat when you're clear. The Outrider doesn't fight when they can run, and they can run from almost anything.
Gate Intelligence is the capstone and the reason groups recruit an Outrider for cross-regional expeditions. Live market prices in every connected sector, reduced transit time for everyone grouped with them, and occasionally - at high ranks - the ability to unlock restricted gates other classes simply can't use. The Outrider is how a Varath fleet knows where to be tomorrow.
Build archetypes:
- The Prospector - max Mineral Sense + Deep Sensors + Survey Memory → resource-discovery focused, highest mining-yield-per-sector in the game
- The Pathbreaker - max Aggressive Warp + Gate Navigation + Outrider Protocol → group mobility, the fastest party-transit build available
- The Haulage Scout - max Reinforced Hold + Route Memory + Broker's Eye → a cross-sector trader who can scout their own delivery routes

Outrider Skill Tree
| Skill | Type | Unlock OL | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deep Sensors | Passive | 0 | Extended scan range and nav discovery radius. R5: sensor range +40%, detects hidden nav points. R7: additionally reveals Ancient structures at long range without requiring approach. |
| Aggressive Warp | Passive | 8 | Warp stays stable in hazardous sectors and anomalous zones. R5: no charge-time penalty in radiation or plasma fields. R7: warp cannot be interrupted by standard interdiction fields. |
| Mineral Sense | Passive | 0 | Identifies resource node composition and yield before mining. R5: reveals rare-ore nodes that don't show on standard sensors. R7: mining yield +15%, and rare-tier deposits reveal their guaranteed drop. |
| Overcharge Tuning | Passive | 10 | Reduces Overcharge heat generation on engines and shields. R5: engine Overcharge runs 30% longer before heat cap. R7: sustained engine Overcharge builds a small speed bonus that persists after cooldown. |
| Reinforced Hold | Passive | 0 | Increases cargo capacity and reduces mass penalty. R5: +25% capacity, no speed penalty from full cargo. R7: +40% capacity, cargo damage from explosions reduced 60%. |
| Field Patch | Active | 20 | Emergency hull repair. R5: 25% hull restored. R7: 35% restored, repairs a disabled ship system. |
| Corporate Intel | Passive | 0 | Surfaces market-price trends, supply demand, and faction standing movement across known sectors. R5: price predictions one hour ahead. R7: reveals cross-sector arbitrage opportunities - buy-here-sell-there margins flagged automatically. |
| Survey Memory | Passive | 0 | Previously-scanned nav points and resource nodes remain visible on the map indefinitely, even after long absences. R5: includes mob spawn zones. R7: includes faction patrol patterns - where Varath Navy cutters and Praxar raiders are likely to be. |
| Hull Reinforcement | Passive | 10 | Increased maximum hull HP. R5: +25% hull. R7: +40% hull; hull damage below 30% triggers a brief speed boost. |
| Boost Discipline | Passive | 0 | Extended boost duration and faster recharge. R5: +40% boost duration, 20% faster recharge. R7: boost during warp extends warp range; recharge continues while warping. |
| Route Memory | Passive | 20 | Reduced fuel cost on previously-traveled routes. R5: -20% fuel cost on memorized routes. R7: -35%, and shared with group members who share the same memorized route. |
| Scout's Gambit | Active | 25 | Short-duration sensor burst - reveals all hostile ships and hazards in an enlarged radius, including cloaked ships. 90s cooldown. R5: 60s cooldown. R7: 45s cooldown; burst also briefly reduces enemy targeting accuracy. |
| Gate Navigation | Passive | 15 | Gate transit and warp-in recovery are faster. R5: -35% warp-in settle time. R7: group members inside scan range also receive the bonus. |
| Outrider Protocol | Passive | 45 | When the Outrider leaves a sector ahead of their group, the group's warp-charge time to follow is reduced. R5: -30% group follow-warp charge. R7: -50%, and group members receive current sector market prices on entry. |
| Gate Intelligence (Exclusive) | Active | 15 [Q] | Live market prices across all connected sectors; reduced group transit times; unlock access to gates restricted by faction standing. R3: 5 sectors of live prices, -10% group transit. R5: 15 sectors, -20% group transit, unlock Trusted-tier restricted gates. R7: all known sectors, -30% group transit, unlock Respected-tier gates including some that normally require faction-specific quests to open. |
