Conflict Zone
Sector ID: 9800 | OL: 30-90 | PvP: Yes
The only sector in the known galaxy where the New Concordat's rules don't apply. The Conflict Zone has been continuously contested for sixty years - all three races have claims on what's inside it, none are willing to let the others have it, and the Concordat treaty that was supposed to resolve the situation was written badly enough that it effectively legalized private military action here while prohibiting government military action. The lawyers have been arguing about this ever since. The fighting has not paused for the argument.
The reason everyone wants the Conflict Zone: the largest Ancient structure in inhabited space sits at its center. Intact, massive, and emitting a low-level energy signature that has been slowly increasing for the past twenty years. Every major Varath house has funded at least one expedition to study it. The Keth want what they believe is weapons technology inside it. The Meridian have a standing presence here that they will not explain to the other races.
The high-risk, high-reward mechanics are real: the best loot tables in the game sit behind the most dangerous contested combat in the game. Fleets clash here. Solo pilots make fortunes and lose ships. The Ancient structure at the center rewards pilots who reach it with things that cannot be found anywhere else.
Key features: The Ancient Structure (center of the sector, guarded, high-value Explore and combat rewards), faction combat zones (all three races active), black market (the only one in the game where all three races' premium goods are available), unique PvP loot tables.
Primary XP: Combat (PvP and PvE), Explore (the Ancient structure is the most complex Explore content outside The Sanctum).
PvP mechanics: Flagged on entry. Kill rewards include credits and unique Conflict Zone currency redeemable at the black market. Death costs a percentage of carried cargo. The sector has a respawn point - you don't leave when you die, you respawn at the entry station and decide whether to go back in.
Lore note: The Ancient structure in Conflict Zone and the Abyss Gate are connected. The Meridian know this. They have not said so in any multi-race forum. The energy signature increase over the past twenty years correlates exactly with the rate of increase in the Abyss Gate readings. The correlation is not coincidence.
Endgame Sectors
OL 78-90. The three racial paths converge here. Vrael presence begins as dynamic world events - not constant, not predictable, but real. When a Vrael incursion event fires, all players in the sector receive a warning. What happens next is not scripted.
