The Ashveld Covenant

"We choose what we become."

Racial lean: Keth (Ashveld-aligned) | Funded by: Ashveld faction, Meridian Wayfarer Council (discretionary)

Territory: Void's Edge approaches, Redwatch corridor, cross-sector diplomatic routes

Fleet colors: Ash grey and deep blue - deliberately not Praxar crimson

The Ashveld Covenant is Bloodmark's ideological counterweight and direct rival. Where Bloodmark is pure Keth combat supremacy, the Covenant is explicitly cross-racial - they recruit anyone who accepts Ashveld values, and those values center on the belief that the Keth survive not by being the toughest species in the galaxy but by not being alone when what's actually coming arrives.

The Covenant is outgunned by Bloodmark in straight combat and they know it. Their pilots are good; Bloodmark's are exceptional. This has pushed the Covenant toward tactics that avoid the direct engagements they lose - interdiction, information denial, protecting specific assets rather than taking territory. They operate with Meridian Wayfarer logistical support, which gives them navigational advantages in Meridian-adjacent sectors that pure Keth Fleets cannot match.

Culture: The Covenant has the most explicit political culture of any Fleet - they argue about Keth politics openly, they recruit Varath and Meridian pilots who share their concern about the Praxar trajectory, and they treat Fleet membership as a statement about what kind of future they're trying to build. This makes them intensely motivated and sometimes insufferable at social gatherings.

What outsiders miss: The Covenant has seen Vrael contact data from the Ashveld leadership and they are the only Keth Fleet taking it seriously. They have been quietly building relationships with Resonance and with Reclamation scouts. The conversation happening across these three Fleets - one Keth-aligned, one Meridian-aligned, one ideologically driven - is the beginning of something. Nobody has named it yet.

What they're actually doing: They are more afraid of what the Praxar will do when the Vrael situation can no longer be denied than they are of the Vrael themselves. A Keth civilizational response to existential threat, filtered through Praxar doctrine, ends with the Keth spending their shortened lives in a war they cannot win alone. The Covenant is trying to ensure that when the time comes, the Keth don't have to be alone.
