Character

Deepveil Systems is the cross-racial technology and intelligence consortium - the faction nobody officially sponsors but everyone uses when they need something done that can't appear on a ledger. Deepveil Transit is their logistics arm, and it operates at the intersection of genuine commercial shipping and operational cover: most Deepveil Transit contracts are exactly what they appear to be. This is what makes the ones that aren't work.

The company is exceptionally well-funded and the routes it offers reflect that. Deepveil doesn't compete on price - it competes on reliability in environments where reliability is hard to guarantee. Their sector intelligence is the best in the game. A Deepveil contract comes with route data that other companies don't have access to, and the route data is accurate.

Working with Deepveil at high standing means working adjacent to operations that span all three races, touch every major political faction, and are answerable to no government. Pilots who achieve Attuned standing learn things about the galaxy that aren't common knowledge. Pilots who achieve Operative standing are making a choice about what kind of work they want to do.

Deepveil standing interacts with Nullfront standing at high levels. This is not documented anywhere.

Voice

Calibrated. Specific information delivered in a tone that communicates institutional competence without explaining how the institution is competent. Everything Deepveil tells you is accurate. Nothing Deepveil tells you is complete.

"Transit route approved. Secondary nav point Rift-7 is currently under surveilled approach - Varath patrol coverage increased by 40% in the last 72 hours. We recommend departure at 0340 local. Window extended to 55 minutes to account for passive approach. Cargo manifest attached. Read it. Some of the line items are technical."

"Delivered. The manifest discrepancy was noted and will not appear in your contract record. This happens occasionally. It is not something you need to investigate."

"Your performance at Tier 3 has been consistent. You're being offered a Tier 4 contract. The route is more complex. The client is not listed by name. The payout is significantly higher. These facts are related."

What They're Actually Moving

This depends entirely on the contract tier.

Tier 3: Real, valuable commercial goods - precision manufacturing components, high-grade materials, Deepveil hardware. The cargo is exactly what the manifest says. The route routing is notable: Deepveil picks routes that pass specific points, sometimes in ways that add time. The cargo arrives fine. The routing is not explained.

Tier 4: Goods with dual-use classification. Legal under at least one of the three racial trade frameworks, which means legal under the Concordat by technicality. The manifests are accurate and technically complete.

Tier 5: Contractors at Tier 5 have stopped asking.

Reputation Tiers

Routes

Deepveil routes exist everywhere in the mid-to-late game and represent the most technically complex navigation challenges. They frequently route through contested space, require passing Trigger Zone corridors, or involve tight windows in sectors with high interdiction risk. Deepveil's payout structure compensates for this.
