The Sanctum
Sector ID: 9700 | OL: 45-65 | PvP: No | Hidden: Yes
The Sanctum does not appear on the standard star map. It can be reached via a gate connection that is not listed in any Varath gate registry - because it was not built by the Varath. The entrance is findable through high-level Explore content in Riftmark, through specific Meridian faction missions, or through the Wayfinder class's deep nav abilities.
The Sanctum is a Meridian sacred site, though "sacred" is an inadequate translation. It is where the Conclave performs the rites that attempt to recover the oldest psionic memories - the memories that predate the Meridian's current identity and reach back to what they were before the Sundering, before the long forgetting. The crystalline structures here are denser and more complex than anything in the Stillwater. Some of them are still active.
Non-Meridian pilots who reach the Sanctum are not turned away. The Conclave made this decision long ago: if someone found it, they were meant to find it. They are escorted, and watched, and given access to a curated selection of what the structures contain. The uncurated sections are behind barriers that Varath engineering cannot open.
Key features: Ancient crystalline structures (highest Explore XP in the game, Meridian lore unlocks), Conclave representatives (deep faction missions, unique rewards), hidden nav survey network, Oracle class quest content.
Primary XP: Explore overwhelmingly - this is the Explore endgame before the actual endgame.
Mobs: Sanctum guardians (OL 50-65 - not hostile by default, but the structures defend themselves if interfered with).
Access: Via hidden gate in Riftmark (Explore discovery), Meridian faction missions, or Wayfinder class deep nav skill.
